Hi-ho Hi-ho off to the doctor we go!

Owen had his one month check up on Monday. Dr. Burbridge was very pleased with Owen's developments. He now weighs 10lbs 1oz and is 22 inches long, which is right on track for his age. The doctor said that next month we can add rice cereal to his evening bottle so that he can hopefully start to sleep all night! Yippee Skippie! Sounds great to me!

He has grown so much and every day he does something new. The facial expressions, smiles, cues, sounds, and yes even the cries melt my heart. I am so glad that I get to stay at home and see all of these changes because they happen so quickly. Next month, Owen gets 3 shots and one oral vaccination.. poor thing.. wish us luck! Check out the photo ops that were taken on the way to the doctor. Isn't he precious! We love you little man!

Morning before we went to the doctor, trying to hold his bottle!

All bundled up and ready to go to the doctor... coat is a little big... he our little Eskimo!

5 weeks old!

Our sweet angel is 5 weeks old....a lot has changed this past week.... Owen has been fussy on and off, so Brent and I decided to change bottles...several people informed us that Dr. Brown helped with gas, etc., and works great, especially when combing with breastfeeding. THANK YOU DR. BROWN... we LOVE them... I cannot tell you how much they have helped his gas... he is not nearly as fussy and he seems happier... smiling all the time. We just love him to pieces, his smiles are worth a million bucks... well, at least to us they are :-).

This weekend we went to Mimi and Papa's on Saturday night to FINALLY get a good night sleep. They watched him during the night, while Brent and I slept at his grandmother's house. While I missed Owen dearly, a good night sleep was absolutely fabulous! It's so great knowing that when you go to sleep, you will not have an automatic alarm clock that goes off every 3 hours! Whew! LOVE sleep, it is not over-rated!

Rollin', Rollin' and I am over! Owen rolled over from his stomach to his back on Sunday! He was on his tummy having tummy time when all of a sudden, he pushed, pushed and he was over. We were shocked! We tried it again and he did it. He has done it 3 times since then, it has to be his idea.... go figure!

Holding my head up high!

What a handsome young man... We love you Owen!

Our baby is 1 month old!

>Wow, I cannot believe that our baby boy is 1 month old today! One month ago, at this time, Daddy was wheeling Owen to our room....every time I think of Owen being born, the whole delivery process brings tears to my eyes. What a true miracle from God! It's hard to believe how much Owen has grown and changed over the course of 1 month... I can only imagine what lies ahead.

Over the course of the month Owen....
  • gained 2 lbs
  • loves his swing...on most days
  • loves to be cuddled, hugged & loved like most babies do
  • loves to ride
  • continues to strengthen his neck muscles
  • keeps Pampers in business
  • loves to listen to his night time lullaby

Smiling up a storm!

Owen and his friend Henry...buddies forever!

check out the cheeks..cute :-)

This bath was a success! He LOVED it. Hopefully the others will follow.

February Fun!

The first half of February has been packed full of fun! We have had lots of visitors, more delicious dinners, help from our wonderful parents, and we had our first trip out of the house... first to Target and then to Mimi and Papa's!!!! I was trying to wait until the 6 week mark to take little man out, but the weather last week was so gorgeous and I could not stand it anymore, so off we went to Target... Owen was an angel.. well, he slept most of the trip and when he finally decided to wake up, he was smiling... I think he's like his mommy, LOVES Target!!! He just knew that is where he was!

On Sunday, Deana, Josh, Weston, and Harrison came to visit and brought a delicious chicken casserole and a fresh batch of brownies... yum!!! She also brought Owen a super-cute outfit and some sleepers for us to borrow.... we go through several in one night... the joy of having a boy:-)

On Thursday, we took Owen to the doctor... we entered the fussy stage last week.... and wanted to make sure that it wasn't anything majorly wrong.... he is now more awake and apparently he has a bit of gas... so, we have been dealing with that. However, when we were there, we learned that our turkey is getting bigger and bigger! He is a whopping 9 lb 4 oz!!!! He is definitely an eater!!!
The doctor said that everything looked great, and it wasn't anything major- just gas! He hasn't been too fussy since then.

On Wednesday, Owen decided that he wanted to send Valentine's Day cards to all his buddies! So, while he was in the swing telling me who he wanted me to send them to of course, I filled them out and mailed them off. What a cupid! He is going to make such a gentleman one day....watch out ladies!!!

On Valentine's Day, we decided to venture out to Mimi and Papa's.... so much fun!! We had chicken kabobs, potatos, salad, and a Valentine's cake. It was nice to get out! Mimi and Papa bought a pack and play and Owen just loved it! Owen also sported his new Valentine outfit and could not wait to see Mimi and Papa, they just love him to pieces!!!

What a cupid...

chilln' in my bumbo!

Deana, Josh, Weston, and Harrison came to visit!

Papa Babysits!

On Wednesday, Papa came over to babysit little man. Owen was fabulous and Papa did an outstanding job! Way to go!!! It was so nice of him to come over and relieve mommy. I actually had time to go to the grocery store and run a few other errands that I had put off. Papa was tickled when he got here because Owen was awake... usually when they come to visit Owen, he is taking one of his thousandth naps of the day....but yesterday he was excited that Papa was coming.... so sleeping beauty decided to have some wake time. Thank you Papa for watching Owen.

Papa and Owen...Papa is such a fabulous babysitter :-)

Owen.. bright eyed and bushy!

Emily came to visit, she brought Owen a precious rattler and a sweet card! Thanks Em! We love ya!

Hilary, Bill, and Debbie (my co-workers at Walkertown Middle) came to visit Owen on Thursday, Hilary is due is March. We cannot wait to meet baby Jack!

Owen's first bath in the big bath tub.... I was brave and attempted this on my own... all went well until we got to the hair....

2 Weeks Old = Pros... Right?

Owen turned two weeks old today!!! Happy 2 week old birthday sweetie-pie! Over the past two weeks a lot has happened... Daddy went back to work on Tuesday... we cried our eyes out as we watched him leave... it was so sad. We've had visitors, lots of tasty foods from various people, changed MANY, MANY diapers, and somehow managed to operate on 3 hours of sleep or less each night. Naps are more appealing than ever! Today, Owen's umbilical cord attachment came off... we were so excited, now we can get real baths!! Owen is so precious to us and we are so lucky that God has blessed us with an adorable healthy son. What more could we ask for? This is an awesome experience that nothing in life can prepare you for.

Lilly and Cass came to visit , Lilly wanted to play... Owen was sleeping the entire time!
