Owen's Mater Plants

I mentioned in a previous post that Owen wanted to buy some tomato plants for me at the Farmer's Market when he and Brent were there for the Easter event.  He was so proud of them and as soon as it got warmer, Brent and Owen got them planted.  Owen was so excited to watch them grow and he was very good about watering them!  They turned out pretty well and we enjoyed eating his maters as he called them!  Too funny!  My little farmer, Owen!

Sleep over with Cousin Maykayla

During the summer, Owen wanted to invite his cousin Maykayla to spend the night with him.  He's never had anyone to stay at our house before.  We went to the Children's Museum and went out to dinner at Moe's.  She stayed in his room and they both slept well!  Glad they were able to spend time together.

FOL VBS

Last year was the first year that Owen could go to VBS and he LOVED it! We were so excited when it was time for him to go this year. His preschool has one and the theme this year was Backyard Adventure. It lasted all week and he had so much fun and made a lot of neat things! He really enjoyed the music and learned most of the hand motions!  It was so funny, we bought the CD so he could practice them and we had it going every time we got in the car!  On the last day, they had a bounce house and smores for the children!

Surf's Up

We couldn't wait to take Owen and Gray to the beach this summer.  In mid-June, we headed down to Brent's uncle and aunt's house at Topsail Beach for the week.  It was great!  The weather was nice except for maybe one day and we went to Wilmington that day.  The boys loved it!  Gray went straight to the water and we practically had to keep him in the shallow water the entire time.  Owen liked the water but didn't want to get out too far.  Owen loved building sand castles and pushing around his truck.  We loved walking on the pier, riding bikes, and eating some good seafood.  It was nice to get away with my family; however, it is a lot of work with two small kids at beach!  Owen has asked several times when we're going back.  Can't wait until next year!

Getting Ready for Christmas!

OOPS! Flashback to early December 2012...I typed this post and forgot to publish it! I love this time of year, but it can definitely be a busy time of year too with all of the decorating, shopping, Christmas programs, and get togethers!  I tried to snap some pics of the different things we did before Christmas.

Let the Cutting Begin

We have kept Owen's hair fairly long ever since he was born.  We decided to go for the short spiked look for the summer.  He loved it and it looked so cute!  We plan to keep it short during the summer and see how he likes it.  We also took Gray to get his first haircut before we went to the beach.  He sat so still in the chair and barely moved.  They just gave him a trim, but most of his curls were gone and I was so sad after we left!  Owen kept his curly hair until he was about 3 and then it was pretty straight.  I will be glad when Gray's grows back out and the cute curls come back!

Last Day at School

It's hard to believe another school year has rolled around and that next year will be Owen's last year in preschool.  They ended the year with a water day outside and it was so much fun.  I tried my hand at making his teacher's a crayon monogram of their first initial.  I was pleased with the way they turned out.  Glad he had another successful year!
