Lowe's Build and Grow

Today, Brent took O to our local Lowe's Home Improvement Store to participate in the Build and Grow program they offer to kids. Basically the dads and sons receive a kit and build whatever is scheduled for that particular Saturday.

Brent had seen it advertise in the store, but didn't realize you have to sign up online to reserve your space. Luckily, they had several open spots and he and O were able to have a lot of fun. To top it all off, they built a toy fire truck that rolls and has a siren. Brent said O was a lot of help with the little hammer and nails. O even got a little Lowe's apron and a fire truck badge after finishing up.

The program doesn't have something every Saturday, but usually a couple of times per month. I'm sure they will keep a check on when the next one is offered. Glad my boys had so much fun!

You Are My Honeybee...

Every year, Kernersville has a Honeybee festival at one of the parks. This is the first year we have made it to one. The weather was not that great, cool and a little misty. Brent decided to make this a boy's outing, which was fine with me since I had a lot of cleaning and grocery shopping to get done. They had a train ride (go figure) that O absolutely loved. He got his face painted (a train of course) and walked around to see all of the vendors. He got a fireman's hat and did not take it off until he took his nap. He has wanted it on a lot since then too. So glad my two men had so much fun.

First Day of Preschool

On September 7th, O started back to preschool. He loved his class last year and was definitely looking forward to being back there again. His teacher from last year, Miss Shelly, was actually supposed to be in another class, but was moved into his new class at the last minute. That works out just fine with me, because he loves her so much. He got to go in a new classroom with new toys and lots more to do. I am so glad this little kiddo loves school. Looking forward to another great year.

Dinner with the Meadors

We love getting together with our friends that are so close in age to O. We headed over to the Meadors for dinner last month. O likes hanging out with Liam, since he's a huge Thomas fan too. Liam had just gotten a new train set and O liked playing with some new trains. It was one of the hot summer days, so after dinner, the boys put their suits on and enjoyed some fun in the pool. Thanks for the yummy dinner Joe and Cameron.

Daddy's Day Off

The fun continues. On another one of Brent's days off from work, we headed to the Children's Museum in Greensboro. O has been several times before, but he always has a blast. Considering the fact that the place has trains, a fire truck, and a police car O was super-excited. He always especially likes the trains. Since we had plenty of time, we were able to make it around to all of the exhibits. We are lucky to have so many attractions that are so close by.

Hanging Rock

I am returning from my blogging hiatus, sorry for not keeping the blog up-to-date. This summer has been a lot of fun. Brent has been able to take off several days a month to hang out with us and take us on special outings. In June, we headed up to Hanging Rock for a day of hiking, boating, and swimming of course. We first decided to hike up the big trail (I mean the one that takes you up to the top of the rock). O was such a trooper and lasted most of the way. B had to carry him when the trail got a little too rocky. Don't worry, we didn't go to the top, we stopped when we thought we probably shouldn't go any further. Next, we went to the row boats and enjoyed the nice calm water. There weren't a lot of people there, so we pretty much had it to ourselves. O was cute, he wanted to help B so much rowing the boat. Even though it was actually making it harder on B, he still acted like O was doing all of the work. He tries to be such a big boy! After working up a sweat in the boat, we decided to go swimming in the cold water (I always remember that water being cold, even when I was a kid). O had a blast and we did too! We love family time!
