Owen's 2!!!

Happy Birthday sweet Owen!!! Owen we cannot believe that you are 2 today….2 years ago today we were in the hospital in awe of this beautiful baby boy that had just been born. We were so excited and so nervous at the same time. I remember Brent telling me. “can you believe that they just let us leave with this tiny baby….we have no idea what we are doing”…ha! Over the past 2 years, we have put together this parenting puzzle and although we are not perfect parents, we love our family dearly and wouldn’t change a thing! At night when we go to bed, we laugh at all the things that you did that day. You are so funny….nonstop! You are into everything….I mean everything!!! You are so creative and you create these games and imagination play that amazes me. Just the other day out of nowhere you started piling up pillows in the hall….normally I probably would have stopped you, but you were on a mission and you weren’t harming a thing so I sat there and watched to see what you were going to do next…..one thing lead to another and the next thing I knew you had me running and crashing into this huge pile of pillows that you had created. You were laughing so hard that tears were almost coming out of your eyes. I love seeing you laugh….makes my day! All of a sudden you decided that it was nap time…you set all the pillows in a row and went and got all your stuffed animals and lined them up….you said shuuu they are sleeping…and you tucked them in individually reading them each a book!! So sweet…you are a charm!!! I hope that you always have this sweet loving personality . You are also very smart and you never forget anything!!! Seriously….at some point there will be no need to even bring a grocery list….you will be that list! Ha! We love you so much and we love that are a very determined toddler….sometimes this strong-willed behavior drives me nuts, but I know that it is just because you are so determined and you like to do everything by yourself. While that may be a testing personality trait as a toddler to a parent, it is a strong asset that will take you far in life…or least that is what I pray for! You are very outgoing, but shy at the same time.. It still takes you a while to get warmed up to unfamiliar people. I love how to come to us when you are unsure of a person or situations and you trust and love us to know that we will show you and help you to know that they are okay. You are an observer…some will think you are quiet…but you are just taking it all in…just like your daddy does! We love watching you learn new words everyday and love hearing you try to form them into sentences. You are so funny and sweet! You love to read books, play with trains, firetrucks, cars, play dough, anything art related, love baths, your grandparents, and church! I love how you talk about church….When I ask you what you do your reply is “slide and play”….then you will say “Bible”…so glad that you like your Sunday school class…and they love seeing you!! They always tell us what a sweet and loving boy that you are. We love you and we are so very glad that we are your parents! We hope that you have a very very Happy Birthday sweet Owen!

Funny story!!! Two days prior to his birthday we went to Don Juan's and we got them to sing happy birthday to Owen! The look that he had was so funny when they were singing...I don't think that he thought they were singing to him. Then the hat...haha! He didn't like it so......they stuck it on Mimi and Owen loved it...he was smiling up a storm....I was looking around the restaurant and at that point I think everyone thought it was Mimi's birthday instead of Owen's. it was so funny!! We were all laughing so hard! Good times!

Yummy chips

YAY...mcuh better on Mimi haha!

We have been celebrating his birthday all week.... I have more pics coming soon of all the birthday events!! So much fun!! I could celebrate his birthday all year long!

Happy Birthday Eve Owen

Two years ago tonight, Brent was making me run up and down the stairs at Hanes Mall....1 hour later, we were sitting in Macaroni Grill getting our dinner boxed up because I was in labor!!! Wow, what an amazing 2 years it has been. It is hard to believe that our little bundle of joy that we brought home from the hospital 2 years ago is 2! Wow, it's hard to believe that we left the hospital knowing absolutely nothing about parenting and somehow along the way, we have figured it out! Owen, we love you with all our heart and are so very glad that God chose us to be your parents. You are the most tender, loving, sweet, and strong willed young man we have ever met! We love you more and more everyday.....tonight, we went out to dinner, although we did not dine at Mac Grill I still ordered salmon and steamed broccoli just like I did the night I went into labor with you...except tonight I did not have to box it up, I got to enjoy it with you !!! We love you little guy and cannot wait to celebrate your birthday tomorrow...Happy Birthday Eve sweetie!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Happy Birthday Daddy!! Brent turned 32 on January 2 (sorry this post is a little late) and we celebrated by having a family BBQ and cake party! We ordered BBQ from our favorite BBQ restaurant here in K-ville, Prissy Polly’s. If you haven’t tried Prissy, it is amazing…best BBQ ever! Mimi, Papa, Kevin and Kelley came over…we laughed, ate BBQ, cake, opened presents, and even exchanged some late Christmas presents from Kelley and Kevin to Owen. We all had a great time and got to spend some time together. Happy 32nd birthday sweetie. I hope that you had a great birthday and many, many more to come!

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

Let it snow and that it did! It started snowing around noon on Christmas Day and continued through the night. We got 6 inches and it looked like a picture from a magazine outside. The day after Christmas, we bundled O up and got ourselves ready and headed outside for some fun in the snow. Well, that lasted all of fifteen minutes. O didn't make much over the snow. After walking around our street for a little while, O pulled off his gloves and fell down in the snow. Poor thing was so cold he couldn't even get up. Needless to say, we headed inside and warmed up by the logs. At least we got some good pics out of it. I think he will have to be a little older before he can really enjoy it and play in the snow.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

After seeing O's excitement at the festivities on Christmas Eve, we couldn't wait for our little fellow to wake up on Christmas morning and see his "choo choo" under the tree. We finally got the thing all assembled shortly before midnight! O woke up and came down the stairs. He was very excited about the train table and immediately starting playing with it! It was so much fun to watch the big smile on his face. When we asked him who brough it to him, he said "Anta Claus". So cute.

We opened presents at our house and then headed to Reidsville for brunch at my parents home. We had a lot of great breakfast food and enjoyed seeing my Grandma, Uncle Johnny. Aunt Sally, Edmund, Maykayla, Mark & Elizabeth, and my parents. Mark & Elizabeth are expecting their first child in May and we are super-excited for them. After we ate, we opened presents and O got so many neat toys and was definitely excited about them. My parents have a dog and O just loves playing with her. It's funny to watch them chase each other around.

While we were opening presents, we looked outside and it was snowing! What a great way to make the day more special. We left and headed to Brent's uncle and aunt's home for a quick visit where we got to see some family that we don't normally see often. We left and by the time we got home the ground was covered and still snowing away. We ended up getting about 6 inches by the next morning.

We had a great day spending time with family and enjoying the winter wonderland outside. Most importantly, we were most thankful for the true meaning of Christmas - Happy Birthday Jesus!
